It can be used to help alleviate digestive issues such as stomach cramps, indigestion, and mild gastrointestinal inflammation.
Cold chamomile tea can be used to soothe puffy skin around the eyes. Soak cotton wool pads in the cold tea, place over your eyelids and relax
Opting for loose dried herbs over mass-produced teabags allows for a richer, fresher flavour and the flexibility to tailor your infusions to suit your needs. Whether brewing a soothing tea or making a simple herbal ointment — loose herbs give you flexibility and optimal quality every time.
Chamomile is widely recognised and has a wonderful part in herbal history. It's been recognised as a herb of exceptional healing properties, often referred to as the “star among medicinal species.” Its use dates back to antiquity, with references from notable figures like Hippocrates, Dioscorides, and Galen. The Anglo-Saxons deemed it one of nine sacred herbs given by the Lord, while ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman texts describe it as a calming herbal tea and remedy for skin conditions like erythema and dryness.
The name “chamomile” comes from Greek origins—chamos (ground) and melos (apple)—referring to its low-growing habit and apple-like scent. The Latin Matricaria relates to its traditional use for women’s reproductive health, especially menstrual discomfort.
Use 1-2 tsp per cup of hot (not boiling) water. Steep for 5-10 minutes, covered. Add a little honey if you desire. Enjoy hot or cold!
